Marifa Academy · India
An open dialogue on Islamic microfinance, SME financing, frameworks and institutional structures in India.
India is home to one of the world's largest Muslim populations, yet Islamic microfinance and Shariah-compliant SME financing here remain nascent and fragmented. This dialogue lets practitioners and researchers examine issues, challenges, frameworks and institutional structures — and identify where collaboration is most needed.
Each theme opens with a 15–20 minute presentation by a topic expert, setting context and sharing views.
The floor then opens to all participants — academicians and professionals discuss the topic and share their own experience.
Qard al-Hasan, Mudarabah, Murabaha, Ijarah and group-lending adapted for Shariah-compliant microfinance.
Shariah-compliant working capital and collateral-free credit access for small and medium enterprises.
Absence of a dedicated Islamic banking law; RBI norms, NBFC-MFI and cooperative routes for Shariah-compliant financing.
Baitul Maal, NBFC-MFIs, cooperatives and companies as vehicles for Shariah-compliant microfinance delivery.
